This 3-dimensional hare leaps across an oval silver disc which has a star etched into it. The hare was created by the "lost wax" technique. The process involves making a wax model from which a mould is made and then filled with molten silver. The wax model is "lost" in the process and replaced by the silver resulting in a unique “one of a kind” item. This process has been used for thousands of years so it seemed fitting to use it for a creature that has featured in mythology and folklore from around the globe for millennia. The hare has long been associated with fertility and the moon and is often linked with female deities such as the Celtic goddess Eostre. In Celtic folklore Eostra turned into a hare at full moon. This solid sterling silver piece was inspired by the imagery of a hare running under the silver moonlight
The solid silver pendant is hallmarked and measures approximately 5 x 3cm and comes in a giftbox with an 18” snake chain.
